Accessibility and Inclusion Specialist for Persons with Disabilities (PWD)

Job Summary:

  • The Accessibility and Inclusion Specialist will play a critical role in making vocational training in e-mobility and Solar Photovoltaic II Installer courses accessible to learners with disabilities. This role involves assessing curriculum needs, advising on inclusive practices, and collaborating with stakeholders to create an inclusive learning environment that aligns with disability inclusion policies and standards. The ideal candidate has a strong background in inclusive education, disability policy, and a commitment to accessibility.

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum Accessibility:

  • Ensure the accessibility of e-mobility and Solar Photovoltaic II Installer curricula by integrating inclusive design principles.
  • Develop and adapt materials, tools, and teaching methods to support learners with various disabilities, including physical, sensory, and cognitive impairments.

Disability Needs Assessment:

  • Conduct assessments to identify specific needs of learners with disabilities, ensuring all aspects of the curriculum support diverse learning styles.
  • Review content delivery methods and recommend accessible infrastructure, assistive technologies, and strategies to remove participation barriers.

Inclusive Teaching Practices Advisory:

  • Advise educators and trainers on best practices for inclusive teaching to foster a supportive learning environment for students with disabilities.
  • Guide the use of assistive devices, adaptive technologies, and differentiated instruction techniques.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Work closely with DACUM curriculum developers, educational institutions, and other stakeholders to ensure disability inclusion throughout the curriculum development process.
  • Align the curriculum with national disability policies and international standards for inclusive education.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Inclusive Education, Disability Law and Policy, or a related field with a focus on PWD and inclusivity.

Experience:

  • PWD/Inclusivity Sector: Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the PWD or inclusivity field.
  • Curriculum Development: 5 years of specific experience in curriculum development, with a focus on accessibility and inclusivity.
  • Leadership: 3 years of experience in leadership roles, advocating for and implementing inclusive practices in educational or vocational programs. Proven experience guiding curriculum developers and stakeholders in designing accessible learning environments.

The role requires a candidate who is passionate about disability inclusion and has a proven track record in creating accessible educational content and environments. This individual should be skilled in collaborating with a range of stakeholders to achieve national and international standards in inclusive education with disabilities.
