Accountant (Office & Projects Division)

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management

  • Record, reconcile, and report all office and project financial transactions.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts, bank reconciliations, and cash flow reports.
  • Manage and monitor company budgets, petty cash, and project expenditures.
  • Ensure proper classification of costs (labour, materials, overheads, equipment hire, etc.).

Project Accounting

  • Maintain separate ledgers for ongoing projects.
  • Track project-specific costs, client payments, and contractor disbursements.
  • Generate periodic financial summaries per project for management review.
  • Work closely with the Operations and Project Teams to align financial data with execution timelines.

Compliance & Audit

  • Ensure timely filing of statutory obligations (PAYE, NHIF, NSSF, VAT, Withholding Tax, etc.).
  • Support annual external audit processes and provide accurate supporting documentation.
  • Maintain compliance with accounting standards and company financial policies.

Procurement & Vendor Management

  • Oversee financial documentation for supplier and subcontractor payments.
  • Verify LPOs, invoices, delivery notes, and payment vouchers before approval.
  • Track supplier balances and manage payment schedules.

 Internal Controls & Reporting

  • Strengthen internal financial control systems to minimize errors and fraud.
  • Conduct periodic checks on project spending and asset usage.
  • Present weekly expenditure reports to management.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • CPA (K) Certification – Mandatory.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on accounting experience (preferably in construction, design, or service-based industry).
  • Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, or similar).
  • Advanced Excel and financial reporting skills.
  • High level of accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Assertive, attentive to detail, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
