Job Description

In the beginning: it was a quiet day in 1992, seven shareholders got together and formed Tausi Assurance Company limited. The Company opened its doors quietly but confidently for business in 1993 in Westlands, with a Paid up capital of Kshs 20million and a staff of nine. Not many companies in the market have experienced the kind of growth that Tausi has demonstrated since its birth eighteen years ago. During the year 2009, after injection of capital by the shareholders, the company’s paid up capital increased to Kshs 219.9 Million as at December 2008. The company is now fully compliant with the minimum paid up capital requirement of Kshs 300 million.

ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT – TAS/HR/AM/ADV/00210/2023

Summary

The Accounts Assistant is a key member of the finance and accounting team, responsible for supporting various financial activities to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records. This role involves daily financial transactions, reconciliation, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Daily Bank reconciliations for Dollar, Disbursement, Reimbursement and MPESA accounts.
  • Receipting of loans repayment and interest.
  • Processing invoices and posting in supplier ledgers.
  • Supplier statement reconciliation.
  • Payment of claims and suppliers invoices.
  • Assisting in preparation of monthly report and quarterly reports.
  • Posting and payment of Judgement.
  • Posting and payment of assessor’s and surveyors’ fees.
  • Preparing cheques for statutory deduction such as PAYE, VAT, WVAT, WTAX, NSSF, NHIF, and Pension AND HELB.
  • Filling NSSF, NHIF on the online portal.
  • Petty cash disbursement/reimbursement in Premia.
  • Preparation of Director’s sitting fees and updating of the sitting fees in the Board Meeting file.
  • Preparing monthly cash flow report and checking on the variance.
  • Preparing the bank charges and the bank interest journal.
  • Assisting in running the clients and broker statement.
  • Running client’s statements and responding to clients queries.
  • Checking work assigned and assisting in the completion of work process in the EDMS.
  • Perform any other duty as may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounts, Finance, Commerce or any other business related course.
  • Holder of CPA (K) or ACCA.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is mandatory.
  • Experience in Financial Sector – Insurance and Banking will be an added advantage

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage time effectively to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks.
