Job Description

Dandelion Africa reduces maternal and child mortality by providing quality and accessible healthcare to communities in hard to reach rural areas. We do this through a medical facility, our backpack nurses who go door-to-door and a network of over 100 unpaid community health volunteers.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Lead and manage the team including facility and program staff.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels and promote a positive work environment.
  • Monitor expenditures and implement cost-saving measures.
  • Lead the procurement process, ensure proper recording of all stocks and adequate stock levels at all times.
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions in accordance with established accounting principles and guidelines.
  • Assist in the budgeting process by providing financial data and analysis to support budget development and monitoring.
  • Develop and implement financial controls and procedures to safeguard assets and minimize financial risks.
  • Maintain financial records and documentation in compliance with statutory requirements and organizational policies.
  • Negotiate contracts with vendors and service providers.
  • Coordinate facility-related services, including housekeeping, laundry, and waste management.
  • Manage the hospital’s security operations to ensure the safety of patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Collaborate with department leads to support their operational needs.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare laws, regulations, and accreditation requirements.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety and health standards.
  • Implement and monitor safety programs and emergency preparedness plans.
  • Foster relationships and partnerships with other healthcare providers, community organizations, community leaders and stakeholders.
  • Implement continuous quality improvement programs.
  • Monitor and analyze performance metrics and outcomes.
  • Any other duties as maybe assigned by your supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of proven leadership and management experience.
  • Project management skills and the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Quickbooks and Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced skills in Excel for financial analysis and reporting.
  • Proficiency in budgeting and financial management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and results-oriented approach to work.
  • High level of integrity, ethics, and professionalism in handling confidential financial information.
  • Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge and experience in the NHIF systems will be an added advantage.
  • Willingness to work full-time in an extremely rural setting.
