Job Description

Our purpose is to unlock value in Africa. We use our analytical capabilities to improve decision-making and, through better decisions, to unlock substantial value for our clients and society. While we are the largest economics-based consulting firm in Africa, we use a large number of techniques and approaches to achieve clarity for decision-makers.

THIS ROLE:

A core part of a fast-growing and diverse team you will play a pivotal role in driving the operations and processes of a fast-growing and diverse team. You will be responsible for steering the implementation of firm-wide strategies, systems, and procedures while ensuring the practice maintains its unique culture amidst growth in staff, geography, and complexity. In addition to overseeing the Practice Administrator, you may also have oversight and compliance roles for large projects spanning multiple clients and remote teams. You will line manage the practice administrator, potentially oversee staffing of analysts and interns to projects in line with the professional development plans and project needs, ensure team coherence, and enable the smooth running of the human development practice by ensuring day-to-day issues are managed where required.

Your role will encompass:

  • Strategy implementation – leading the implementation of firm-wide initiatives and HD strategies; ensuring alignment and coherence across the practice’s routine systems
  • Ensuring the smooth running of the Human Development Practice including practice/project management, marketing efforts, financial management and HR management systems
  • Embedding knowledge management to enhance the practice’s intellectual capital.
  • Managing the practice administrator(s)’ and guiding their work
  • Compliance and Oversight for large projects undertaken by the practice, especially those involving multiple clients and remote teams.

We offer you a steep learning curve while providing an opportunity to make a difference. We will invest in your professional development. We offer meaningful work with professional, talented and supportive teams; mentoring and regular feedback from partners; structured training and coaching programmes; and a career ladder.

Requirements

We are seeking candidates who are passionate about driving positive societal change and possess strong organisational skills. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of operational management experience, preferably within the consulting field.

Key qualifications include:

  • Proven management experience in consulting organisations, ideally with a focus on human development sectors such as education, health, social protection, or social care.
  • Degree or diploma in management or a relevant field.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated potential for leadership, including staff management and team-building abilities.
  • Experience operating in an international setting.
  • Familiarity with hybrid, virtual, or remote work environments.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides)
