Job Description

Welcome to Nyeri County. A leading giant in food production and a key player for the central tourism circuit.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Preparation of technical Board papers for all matters to be tabled to the Board;
  • Researching HR matters
  • Assisting in providing strategic leadership for effective delivery of Board mandate as per the County’s mission, Vision, and strategic plan.
  • Assisting in overseeing the management of the finances, preparation, and submission of the Board’s annual Plans, programs, and estimates.
  • Assisting in developing an annual work plan for the Board
  • Drafting advisories, guidelines, and policies on HR matters
  • Assisting in the Preparation of the Board agenda
  • Overseeing the communication and implementation of the Board decisions
  • Assisting the CEO in the liaison role between the board and other stakeholders
  • Providing technical support to the County Human Resource Advisory Committee (CHRAC)

Administrative roles

  • Assisting in the overall management of the Board’s Secretariat
  • Providing administrative and strategic leadership roles at the Secretariat
  • Monitoring the implementation of performance for the secretariat staff
  • Ensuring that there is adequate administrative support to the Board
  • Performing any other duty that may be assigned by the supervisor

Requirements for appointment

A candidate must have:

  • Served in the grade of Chief Human Resource Management and Development Officer for a minimum period of three (3) years.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields: Human Resource Management, Human Resource Development, Human Resource Planning, Business Administration, Education, Sociology, Political Science/ Government, Anthropology or any other relevant Social Science from a recognized institution;
  • A Master’s degree in any of the following fields: Human Resource Management, Human Resource Development, Human Resource Planning, Business Administration, Education, Sociology, Political Science/ Government, Anthropology, or any other relevant Social Science from a recognized institution will be an added advantage.
  • A Diploma in any of the following fields: Human Resource Management, Human
  • Resource Development, Industrial Relations Labor Relations, or its equivalent from are recognized institution.
  • Certificate in Senior Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution will be an added advantage.
  • Membership to a relevant professional body;
