Job Description

Trans Nzoia County is among the 47 counties established by the Kenya Constitution under article 6(1) and specified in the First Schedule. Article 176 (1) establishes a county government for each county consisting of the county assembly and the county executive. The Trans Nzoia county government was operationalized in March 2013 after the country’s general election with H.E Hon. Patrick Simiyu Khaemba as the first popularly elected Governor.

Duties and Responsibilities.

  • Class teaching;
  • Role modeling, guidance and counselling, mentoring and motivation of the learner;
  • Preparing reports;
  • Ensuring the safety and security of the learners;
  • Assist in designing, organizing and facilitating play/learning activities for learners;
  • Assist in organizing and facilitating play/learning activities for the learners;
  • Caring and nurturing spiritual, moral, social, mental, physical, aesthetic and emotional growth of the learners (holistic development);
  • Managing ECDE classes and keeping professional and administrative records (schemes of work, lesson plans, daily programme of activities, attendance registers, etc.) and ensuring learners’ safety and security;
  • Preparing and developing play/learning materials.

Requirements for Appointment:

For Direct Appointment to this grade, a candidate must be in possession of:-

  • Diploma in Early Childhood Development and Education offered by KNEC or its approved equivalent; and either:-
  •  Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) minimum grade C (Plain) , or its approved equivalent;

OR

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) minimum grade D+ (Plus), or its approved equivalent plus Certificate in Early Childhood Development and Education offered by KNEC or Ministry of Education or its approved equivalent;
  • Registered by the Teachers Service Commission;
  • A Certificate in Computer applications;
  • Certificate of Good Conduct from the National Police Service;
  • Valid medical report from a recognized government Health Facility.

In addition to the above requirements, an ECDE Teacher must have the following:

Personal qualities;

  • Creative and innovative;
  • Professionalism and integrity;
  • Relate well with children, parents and members of the society;
  • Modest and of sound mind.
