Job Description

Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) is autonomous road agency, responsible for the management, development, rehabilitation and maintenance of international trunk roads linking centres of international importance and crossing international boundaries or terminating at international ports(Class A road), national trunk roads linking internationally important centres (Class B roads), and primarily roads linking provicially important centres to each other or two higher-classroads (Class C roads).

Job Purpose

The job holder is responsible for supervising and coordinating the provision of all the engineering and topographical survey services within the Authority including Survey control network establishments, topographical Mapping for Designs and construction of Road infrastructure, coordinating the Survey related Construction supervision of all road projects and coordinating the provision of related aerial, hydrographic and terrestrial mapping activities within the Authority.

Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:

  • Carrying out angular observations using Total Station and GPS observation;
  • Undertaking survey engineering survey for job project;
  • Conducting traversing and tachometry;
  • Conducting survey work from aerial photographs;
  • Identification and establishment of photo control points;
  • Conducting Geodetic leveling; and
  • Observing of level lines and maintenance of geodetic instruments.

Job Specifications

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have at least:

  • Diploma/Higher Diploma in Land Survey or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  • Technician membership with the Institution of Surveyors of Kenya (ISK), (Land Surveyors Chapter);
  • Proficiency in computer applications and
  • Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
