Job Description

Kenya Plant Health Inspectorate Service (KEPHIS) is the government parastatal whose responsibility is to assure the quality of agricultural inputs and produce to prevent adverse impact on the economy, the environment and human health.

Job Specifications

Duties and responsibilities: –

  • Developing experimental designs and generating randomization plans for field and laboratory trials;
  • Receiving, analysing data and generating reports;
  • Support development and maintenance a data base of varieties under NPT and DUS;
  • Liaise with laboratory officers to generate reports for trends on compliance levels with quality and safety requirements;
  • Prepare control charts for quality control programs in the laboratory;
  • Prepare data templates for supervised field trials and sampling plans;
  • Preparing a list of officially released varieties for gazettement;
  • Employ appropriate data analytical packages for analysis of data;
  • Preparation of NPT and DUS Schedules for the purpose of invoicing;
  • Preparation of Schedules for NPT and DUS report sharing;
  • Design Database for imports and exports of plants, plant products and other regulated articles
  • Carry out data analysis for imports and exports;
  • Carry out mapping of the surveillance exercises using Arc GIS;
  • Provide statistical advice and trainings on surveys, data analysis and data collection for all departments in the Service
  • Supporting development of regulatory research proposals for funding;
  • Supporting regulatory research and generation of papers for publication; and
  • Support maintenance of Quality Management Systems (QMS) at the department.

Persons Specification

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: –

  • Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Statistics, Applied Biometrics of Chemometrics, Applied Statistics, Biostatistics, Seed technology (Statistics) or its equivalent from a University recognized in Kenya;
  • Meets the provisions of the Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya.
