Capacity Planner

Job Objective

To administer the network inventory, provision, record and audit resources. Plan, forecast, report and initiate capacity across the network.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and implement network automation solutions for configuration, provisioning, monitoring and troubleshooting across NNIs (Network-to-Network Interfaces) and system integrations
  • Integrate network automation solutions with B/OSS platforms, ensuring seamless interoperability with existing systems
  • Own and manage service records, including ODF, port and supplier records
  • Implement Moves, Adds, Changes and Deletions (MACD) management and control of service inventory
  • Own provisioning (including allocation, leased lines, client backup and other client network services)
  • Ensure network changes in the are reflected in company records
  • Ensure emergency restoration changes are reviewed and either accepted or normalised
  • Audit and reporting of port and capacity utilisation and trends
  • Forecast on capacity and raise with management for purchasing when re-order levels are reached
  • Prepare BOD reports and assist with budgetary planning for capacity
  • Telecom Expense Management, liaising with Finance
  • Represent WIOCC as required on submarine cable management sub-committees
  • Assist with the creation of ad hoc reports as needed
  • Assist other departments and lead and report on projects as requested
  • Ensure data integrity of NetSuite

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Degree holder in Electrical / Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications or related fields.

Experience & Skills:

  • Minimum 4 years of work experience in the telecom industry, including experience in service delivery, sales support, network infrastructure or operations support or similar fields
  • Detailed knowledge of OTN, DWDM / ROADM, Data (Ethernet, IP/MPLS)
  • Experience with implementing databases for network inventory records
  • Experience working with B/OSS systems to maintain accurate and timely network records
  • Experience with product and technology development cycle, including implementation and deployment
  • Capable of providing recommendations and options to identify all impacts and costs related to the recommended solutions
  • Knowledge of subsea cable systems and operating models
