Job Description

Summary

To plan, develop, implement, monitor and review Safetyprograms and measures and work to minimize operational losses, accidents,injuries and to ensure full compliance to applicable legislations and Codes ofPractice.

Responsibilities

  • Use the Kenya Airways standards and methods, investigate all ground incidents and accidents. Formal investigative reports will be required for certain situations as mandated by regulation or at the discretion of the Ground Safety Manager and will be required to include root cause analysis and Kenya Airways standards-based action/evaluation plan.
  • Develop, implement and ensure sustenance of The Corporate Safety Management System at cargo inclusive but not limited to passenger & ramp operations.
  • Prepare and ensure sustenance of Safety strategies, plans and internal policy within cargo operations.
  • Coordinate development and implementation of safe operational procedures which identify and take account of all relevant hazards.
  • Liaise with the Airports Authorities to ensure risks are mitigated.
  • Maintain records of all reported incidents and accidents and generate statistics on performance or any other analysis requirement.
  • Coordinate regular Departmental, Divisions and Sections Safety Action Group Meetings and ensure that issues identified by Staff are resolved, risk registers are kept up to date and tracked.
  • Conduct regular workplace and operational Safety Audits and check that policies and procedures are being properly implemented.
  • Maintain database on Health & Safety inspections/audits and publish reports that recommend areas that need improvement.
  • Available with short notice to conduct Accident/Incident investigations and produce reports with recommendations on corrective/preventive actions.
  • Conduct and/or coordinate in-house Safety Management Systems awareness sessions.
  • Assist in preparation and production of periodic safety bulletins.
  • Ensure and maintain a healthy, safe and secure working environment in compliance with the relevant industry, regulatory and legislative requirements, company procedures, regulatory authorities and requirements of customer airlines.

Job Requirements

  • Technically qualified person in Airport Operations (Ground, Security or Cargo) .
  • Has successfully completed training in:
    • Quality Management Systems and Safety Management Systems course recognized by KCAA;
    • Risk Management
    • Incident or accident Investigation
  • Thorough working knowledge of airline operations, OSHA, Kenya Civil Aviation Regulations, and IATA standards.
  • Three (3) years working experience in AirportOperations (Ground, Security or Cargo)
