Job Description

CDL was founded in early 2003 by its current Managing Director Lucy Mmari.Within her 14 year tenure in a well established logistics company, She honed her skill in human resources management and thereafter started CDL.

Job Summary:

Our client is seeking a talented and experienced Chef to join their team in Kiambu County. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of culinary experience, a diploma in Culinary Arts, and a proven track record of working in high-end, 3 to 5-star hotels. The Chef will be responsible for creating and executing high-quality menus, managing kitchen operations, and ensuring an exceptional dining experience for our guests.

Key Responsibilities:

Menu Planning and Development:

  • Design and update menus that reflect creativity, quality, and seasonality.
  • Ensure menus cater to a diverse clientele, including special dietary requirements.

Kitchen Operations Management:

  • Oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and plating.
  • Ensure kitchen staff adhere to hygiene, safety, and sanitation standards.
  • Manage inventory, order supplies, and maintain cost control.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead, train, and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and professional work environment.
  • Schedule and supervise kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations.

Quality Control:

  • Monitor food quality, presentation, and consistency to maintain the highest standards.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

Customer Experience:

  • Interact with guests to gather feedback and ensure satisfaction.
  • Adjust menus and service based on customer preferences and trends.

Cost Management:

  • Monitor food and labor costs to meet budgetary requirements.
  • Implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Culinary Arts or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Chef in a 3 to 5-star hotel.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of kitchen operations and food safety standards.
  • Creative flair and passion for high-quality cuisine.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
