Job Description

The promulgation of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010, introduced the devolved system of Government which resulted to the formation of the 47 Counties across the Country, Kakamega County being among them. Kakamega County is located in the western region of the country with an area of 3,051.3 square kilometers and an estimated population of 2,079,669 and density of 682. Administratively, it is divided into twelve sub counties, sixty wards, one hundred and eighty seven Village Units and four hundred Community Administrative Areas. Politically, it comprises of twelve constituencies and sixty wards. The climate in this region is very conducive for many activities including crop and animal production. Duties and Responsibilities

The duties will include:-

  • Providing administrative support services to health-related projects;
  • Coordination of  County Government Health Programmes and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) involved in the delivery of health care services or in health-related services;
  • Reviewing, formulating and implementing health and administrative policies, procedures and programmes; and
  • Effective supervision, deployment, discipline, training and development of staff in the health administrative service.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: –

  • Served in the grade of Senior Deputy Chief Health Administrative Officer, Job Group CPSB 05/’P’ or in a comparable position for a minimum period of three (3) years;
  • Have a Bachelors’ degree in any of the following Social Sciences: – Government, Anthropology, Sociology, Business Administration, Public Administration, Commerce, Economics, Law or its equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution;
  • Masters’ degree in any of the following fields; Health Management, Hospital Administration, Health Planning, Public Health, Health Economics and Business Administration or its equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution; and
  • Demonstrated outstanding professional competence and administrative ability in the management of health services in a large health institution.
