Job Description

The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) was established by an Act of Parliament, Chapter 469 of the laws of Kenya , which became effective on 1st July 1995 . The Authority is charged with the responsibility of collecting revenue on behalf of the Government of Kenya. A Board of Directors, consisting of both public and private sector experts, makes policy decisions to be implemented by KRA Management. The Chairman of the Board is appointed by the President of the Republic of Kenya . The Chief Executive of the Authority is the Commissioner General who is appointed by the Minister for Finance. PURPOSE OF KRA Assessment , Collection, Administration and Enforcement of laws relating to revenue.

Purpose of the job

The position holder is responsible for overall management of ICT end user support in the Authority and ICT Asset Management. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic planning, design and deployment of end user computing tools and equipment across all KRA Offices
  • Providing ICT support to business operations within the prescribed internal standards
  • Implementation of IT best practices and monitoring KPIs for user support
  • Internal and external ICT stakeholder management
  • Maintaining up to date end user compute assets inventory and supporting documentation
  • Development of operational budgets for Service Management Section
  • Ensure conformity to ISO (9001/2015 and 27001/2013) and data security requirements
  • Management of Performance, Audit and Integrity programmes

Requirements

Academic qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Electrical / Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications or any other IT-related field.
  • Post Graduate degree in IT related field will be an added advantage.

Professional Qualifications

  • Certification in any of the following; Certified Governance IT, Control Objectives for Information technologies, ITIL, Project Management (Prince II or PMP Certification), Certified Information Security Auditor, Certified Information Security Manager or any other relevant certification.
  • Membership in a recognized IT related professional body. 

Work Experience:

  • Minimum seven (7) years of progressive experience in IT environment, with at least three (3) years of experience at the managerial level
  • Excellent knowledge in Active Directory Management, IT Group Policy objects, centralised printing, document sharing and controls, administration of Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)
  • Conversant with automation tools such as Ms SharePoint, System Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM) or System Centre Operations Manager (SCOM), IBM Service Management Tool (ITSM).

  • Attention to details and ability to work under minimum supervision
  • Ability to research and propose suitable solutions/products for business improvement.
  • Excellent interpersonal, conflict management, written and oral communication skills.
