Job Description

Kiambu County is one of the 47 counties in the Republic of Kenya. It is located in the central region and covers a total area of 2,543.5 Km2 with 476.3 Km2under forest cover according to the 2009 Kenya Population and Housing Census. Kiambu County borders.

Chief Officer Land & Physical Planning

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Administration of the county department;
  • Ensure effective service delivery through implementation of laid out policies and regulations
  • Implementing County Executive Committee resolutions as guided by the Executive Committee Member;
  • Implementing policies and Development plans;
  • Developing and implementing Strategic Plans in consultation with the Executive Committee Member;
  • Ensuring effective and efficient utilization of the department’s financial and non-financial resources;
  • Ensure promotion of national values and principles of governance and values and principles of public service as outlined in the constitution of Kenya 2010.
  • Performing duties of an Accounting Officer in Public Finance Management
  • Performing duties of an Authorized Officer in Human Resource Management

Requirements for Appointment

  • Be a Kenyan citizen;
  • A Bachelor’s degree in any of the following: Land economics; Land management; Real Estate and property studies; Land Surveying and Geo-Spatial Engineering; Urban Planning, or its equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized University;
  • Master’s degree from a university recognized in Kenya, is an added advantage;
  • Have a vast knowledge and experience of not less than 5 years in a relevant field in public or private sector;
  • Possess general knowledge of the County Government and its functions;
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the County goals, policies and developmental objectives;
  • Demonstrate leadership and management capacity including knowledge of financial management and strategic people management skills and;
  • Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 on leadership and integrity
