Job Description

Responsibilities

The COP will be responsible for the management and technical leadership and provide overall oversight of the implementation of all components of the activity. S/he will serve as ME&A’s principal liaison to USAID/Sudan. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic individual who is effective in navigating volatile political environments and conflict zone challenges. S/he will also bring expertise coordinating with government entities, partner organizations, and program stakeholders, and the ability to work effectively and respectfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds. This is a full-time position contingent upon the successful award of the activity.

Qualifications

Education + Experience Requirements

  • At least ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience related to MEL and a bachelor’s degree in international affairs, social science, statistics, or another related field.

OR

  • At least eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience related to MEL and a master’s degree in international affairs, social science, statistics, or a related field.

Other Required Experience

  • At least three (3) years of experience managing teams to deliver quality results in complex development or crisis environments, preferably in M&E.
  • At least two (2) years of experience working on complex humanitarian emergency situations.
  • At least seven years of experience managing M&E support projects, preferably with a focus on complex projects in a humanitarian, crisis, conflict, or transition context.
  • At least two years of experience conducting or overseeing quantitative and qualitative field research.
  • Experience managing third-party monitoring projects, including remote management of staff and partners.
  • Experience managing subcontractors and experience managing and implementing USAID-funded programs.
  • Experience designing and/or facilitating staff M&E training and/or supporting M&E capacity-building initiatives.
  • Excellent English oral and written communication skills and Arabic preferred.
  • Strong analytic, interpersonal, and team management skills.

Desired Experience

  • Experience working on programs implemented in Sudan and/or East Africa or other environments of comparable complexity.
  • Experience or familiarity with BHA.
  • Experience working in sensitive contexts combined with a demonstrated experience in gender and social inclusion and protection programming, including gender-based violence.
