Job Description

St. Paul’s University is an ecumenical private chartered university founded in 1903. It is strategically located in the lush Kiambu County along Nairobi-Limuru Route A, 30kms from Nairobi, next to Jumuia Conference and Country Home with other campuses in Nairobi, Nakuru and Machakos. It is in a cool and serene environment that is very conducive for learning.

Key responsibilities and duties/Job specifications:

  • Conduct Clinical Instructions both in wards and Skills Laboratory.
  • Prepare Skills Laboratory practical manuals in liaison with lecturers.
  • Develop and review Clinical Instruction Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), practical manuals.
  • Clinical supervision — coordinate student rotations and/or site visits and help students understand their duties in different Clinical settings.
  • Develop, implement, enforce, and review hospital measures and guidelines, and advise the department as required.
  • Provide mentorship and coaching to students both during and outside the formal evaluation and instruction arenas.
  • Participate in assessment of students in both formative and summative stages.
  • Advise the Department and University on Clinical instruction matters and services.
  • Act as a goodwill ambassador of the Clinical Medicine programme and the University.
  • Participate in community outreach programmes according to set schedule.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Medicine and Surgery or equivalent qualification.
  • At least three years’ experience in Clinical instruction and mentorship of students in the clinical area.
  • Minimum three years of working experience in a busy hospital.
  • Must be registered with the Clinical Officers’ Council (COC) of Kenya and have a valid practicing license.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Emergency Triage Assessment and Treatment plus (ETAT+) is an added advantage.
