Job Description

The Communications Authority of Kenya is the regulatory authority for the communications sector in Kenya. Established in 1999 by the Kenya Information and Communications Act, 1998, the Authority is responsible for facilitating the development of the Information and Communications sectors including; broadcasting, multimedia, telecommunications, electronic commerce, postal and courier services.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing the economic policy and technological issues relating to the regulation of the communication sector.
  • Analyzing information feedback from various consultative processes by the Authority and offering guidance on their incorporation in regulatory decisions.
  • Providing technical input in the drafting of necessary regulatory safeguards and guidelines for a liberalized communications market with respect to competition, tariffs, interconnection, and access.
  • Assessing and reviewing regulatory decisions/mechanisms to determine their impact, effectiveness, and implementation on the communications sector.
  • Researching emerging issues in the ICT market.
  • Developing and reviewing various tariff and cost models, interconnection, and access frameworks.
  • Responding to information and data requests.

Person Specification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following: Applied and Physical Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, Business related fields, or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
  • Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.
  • 1 year in the grade of Officer II or equivalent.
