Summary

  • The Compliance Officer will be responsible for the Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) assessment for all international students seeking admission to Western Sydney University, ensuring rigorous adherence to both immigration regulations and university policies.
  • The Compliance Officer will conduct comprehensive evaluations of an applicant’s background, considering their academic qualifications, financial stability, and immigration history to determine the authenticity of their intentions to pursue their studies at the University.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct GTE assessments (including SOP and verifications from the bank over email) for applicants from Africa in line with university policy and procedures promptly.
  • Successfully meet the agreed KPIs for turn-around times (48 hours) for GTE assessment outcomes set by the Manager.
  • Applications are referred promptly to appropriate officers.
  • Application data maintenance in the relevant university student management system is recorded with a high level of accuracy.
  • Feedback on application quality and documentation is reported to recruitment teams for discussions with agents.
  • Meeting the (KPI’s) on the phone and email responses set by the Manager.
  • Alert Manager to emerging issues and recommend improvements to processes and the student experience.
  • Ensuring inquiries from students/agents are addressed promptly and comprehensively.
  • Effective and efficient advice is provided to relevant university staff about GTE assessment processes.
  • Provide regular reports on conversion outcomes to the Associate Director, International Admissions, and Compliance
  • Contribute to the development of a respectful service culture of mutual support and continuous professional growth.

Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Experience: 

  • A relevant degree qualification and/or equivalent professional admissions, compliance, or customer service experience
  • Demonstrated negotiation and communication skills, including the ability to drive continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the impact of overseas education systems and qualifications on eligibility assessment, visa risk, market competitiveness, and compliance.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment.
  • Demonstrated a high level of organization and administrative skills, including prioritizing complex work schedules and meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated high-level interpersonal and written communication skills and experience.
