Job Description

The United Nations Environment Programme (UN Environment) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the world’s environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the environment.

Coordination and Administrative Intern

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the Deputy Director, including meeting preparation, and documentation.
  • Assist in organizing internal meetings, including preparing agendas, taking minutes, and tracking follow-up actions.
  • Support special projects and priority initiatives led by the Deputy Director through coordination, research, and follow-up.
  • Undertake targeted research and analysis, including internal reports and data, to inform knowledge management and process improvements.
  • Assist in preparing internal communications, briefing notes, and presentation materials, as needed.
  • Liaise with division teams to gather inputs and support coordination on key activities.
  • Undertake other tasks as required, in line with the intern’s interests and experience.

Qualifications/special skills

  • Applicants must, at the time of application, meet one of the following requirements:
  • Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
  • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent); or Have graduated with a university degree.
  • Applicants must be pursuing qualifications in an area of study that can significantly contribute to the responsibilities outlined and overall work of the Ecosystems Division Directors Office, including: Applicants must, at the time of application, meet one of the following requirements: Background in programme management, business administration, development studies, or other related field;
  • Demonstrated interest and experience in issues related to in programme coordination, project management, or support to environmental and conservation initiative;
  • Experience in organizing meetings, or conferences, including managing stakeholder coordination is highly desirable;
  • Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.
