We are currently looking for an experienced Cost Accountant to join our team and support our operations in Eldoret.
About the Role

As a Cost Accountant, your main responsibilities will include:

• Leading material and activity-based costing vs standard costing, including variance analysis and overhead allocation methods.
• Generating regular financial reports for our operations and tracking follow-ups.
• Partnering closely with procurement and operations teams to align costs with business activities.
• Setting and monitoring cost Centre budgets, analyzing variances, and preparing relatedreports.
• Cost accounting and reporting.
• Ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
• Overseeing financial aspects of our commercial agreements with partners.
• Managing project finance across multiple periods.
• Leading quarterly and annual budgeting and cash flow forecasting with department andcost Centre managers.
• Preparing management reports with actuals, variance analysis, and operational insights.
• Monitoring inventory and working capital investment.
• Supporting corporate governance within supply chain functions – including financial audits, inventory valuation, provisioning, and fixed assets register management.
• Record and report financial losses due to sapling mortality or damages.
• Track the usage of roottrainers and document cost write-downs for missing or unaccounted units
• Monitor the use of planting materials e.g tools,labels, ensuring efficient utilization and cost reporting.
• Reconcile ODK field data with financial data to ensure accurate sapling count per landowner and validate planting claims.
• Define and track the standard costs of saplings, ensuring consistency across procument and deployment.

Who We’re Looking For:

• Full membership with ICPAK – Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya or ACCA
• A solid background in agriculture, manufacturing, or experience working with scale-up companies.
• Strong expertise in cost control and project finance management.
• Proficiency in manual costing using Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel, and the ability to gradually digitize the process.
• A sharp analytical mind, structured approach, and passion for simplification.
• Excellent communication and people skills.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Familiarity with tools like Power BI is an added advantage.
• A growth-oriented, problem-solving mindset and the ability to work well in a dynamic, international environment.
• 10+ years of experience in a similar role.
