Job Summary

To drive the execution of credit risk strategies that optimize the subsidiary’s credit portfolios from a reward versus risk perspective while balancing capital constraints and market sensitivity to levels of non-performing debt.

Job Details

Critical Deliverables /Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Ensure efficient implementation and compliance with Letshego’s policies, procedures relating to credit risk, including for provisioning, write offs and arrears management.
  • Prepare monthly reports on country management of arrears and compliance.
  • Make recommendations for Country write offs.
  • Monitor progress on issuing and serving summons’ on debtors.
  • Provide recommendations on achieving set loan book performance and impairments practices.
  • Ensure that all loans and lending procedures comply with applicable regulations.
  • Analyse new customer’s credit worthiness

Requirements

Position Requirements

 Education

  • A degree in finance / Information Systems /Economics or similar
  • Experience in credit management gained in Consumer Finance, retail SME or microfinance   environment

 Experience 

  • At least 7 years’ experience in Credit Risk within Financial Services

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of local laws, rules and regulations
  • Understanding of credit risk strategies to maximise benefit from opportunities that arise to give some input to upside benefits to the business.
  • Hands on experience with credit risk management systems

Skills

  • Ability to analyze and monitor country credit risks that face the business.
  • Ability to devise solutions relevant to a particular situation considering the specific circumstances, country laws and norms
  • Quality Assurance of all loan portfolios
