Job Description

Amref Health Africa in Kenya is the country programme office of Amref Health Africa, Africa’s largest International Health NGO. This is the largest and oldest country programme in Africa with an average annual budget of USD 40million.

Responsibilities

Research/Learning and Data Analysis:

  • Assist in developing survey protocols, designing data collection instruments, and survey implementation
  • Conduct data analysis from surveys and routine program activities to identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform program strategies and decision-making
  • Develop and maintain databases to store and organize program-related data.
  • Generate reports, dashboards, and visualizations to communicate findings to program staff, management, and various stakeholders.
  • In collaboration with stakeholders, develop and implement project specific learning agenda under NTD program

Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Support the program team in designing monitoring and evaluation indicators and plans
  • Collaborate with the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) team to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and program outcomes.
  • Develop and execute a data quality assurance plan while offering technical guidance to improve data quality and reporting systems
  • Provide support in the design and implementation of surveys, impact assessments, and evaluations.
  • Technical Support: Develop and refine cost-effectiveness models, monitoring & evaluation frameworks, and theories of change
  • Conduct in-depth data analyses using advanced statistical methods and tools to uncover patterns, correlations, and insights
  • Actively collaborate with the Ministry of Health, key partners, and stakeholders to report progress, impact, and best practices at county, national, and international forums
  • Participate in various internal and external disease-specific and monitoring & evaluation technical working groups
  • Provide training and technical support to program staff on data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Development of Terms of Reference for various consulting opportunities

Reporting & Knowledge Management

  • Support in the development of periodic internal and donor reports, including presentations to communicate the insights and findings from the data to stakeholders, which can influence policy and decisionmaking processes.
  • Provide Technical support to NTD projects in updating of Amref Information Management System (AIMS) and utilizing it for knowledge management
  • Work with the program’s knowledge management officer and program team to develop successful, impactful stories for broader dissemination
  • Contribute to the preparation of presentations, proposals, and other documentation as needed.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned from time to time.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics/economics/related field with 3-5 years of experience OR
  • Master’s degree in Health Economics/Public Health with a specialization in health economics/Statistics with 3 years of experience.
  • At least three years as a Data Analyst, preferably in the health sector or a related field.
  • Proficiency in statistical software, specifically Stata or R and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting high-quality research, data analysis, and report writing.
  • Versatile and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining highquality standards.
  • Detail-oriented, excellent in oral and written communication, with strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
