Data Specialist-Programme Monitoring and Improvement

Key Responsibilities include

  • Coordinate and guide the development of monitoring system improvements (Salesforce, SurveyCTO, Tableau) for the organization.
  • Curate and maintain GAIN’s standard indicators, Output and Outcome picklist.
  • Develop dashboards for PMI and Project teams to facilitate performance monitoring and decision making.
  • Will support the development of a GAIN Results database for project data and will manage said database once live.
  • Oversee, review and interpret monitoring data as part of preparation for GAIN’s performance and donor reports and ensure quality of project reports aligning with the theory of change and results framework.
  • Ensure the analysis of information collected and reporting, including writing reports, briefs and other materials is in line with GAIN standards.
  • Supports implementation of in-house training for staff on programme monitoring, closely linked to the GAIN Project Management Guidelines (PMGs) through the delivery of workshops, seminars and training modules in partnership with the Program Management Advisor
  • Contribute to the development of approaches to address capacity development needs related to programme monitoring, including among partners.

About you

  • The ideal candidate will possess experience in data management, data analytics, information systems, business intelligence or a related quantitative field, with demonstrable experience using data and digital systems to support programme performance and decision-making. You will have practical experience managing, validating, cleaning and analysing complex datasets, ensuring data quality and integrity, and developing dashboards and analytical products that translate data into clear, actionable insights.
  • You will be proficient in data visualisation and analytical tools such as Power BI or Tableau, alongside advanced Excel and statistical or analytical tools such as R/RStudio, STATA or Python. Experience working with SQL and structured databases, digital data collection platforms such as SurveyCTO, and information management platforms such as Salesforce would be highly desirable. Understanding of programme monitoring principles within a non-profit setting and how data systems, indicators and results frameworks support programme performance, learning and continuous improvement is required.
  • You will possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with programme, monitoring and technical teams and translate their information needs into practical data solutions. Experience strengthening colleagues’ capacity in data quality, digital data collection, data systems, analytics or dashboards would be advantageous.

About our offer

  • The starting gross salary on offer for this role is from KES 3,219,600 – KES 3,683,388 gross per annum, depending on experience. Staff Benefits Summary
