Job Description

Kenya Methodist University (KeMU) is a Chartered Private Christian Institution of higher learning which aims to contribute to the transformation of our society by providing high quality education that promotes excellence in scholarship, research and selfless service to the community.

Deputy Vice Chancellor (APF)

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide innovative and creative leadership in the administrative, planning, finance and development agenda of the University.
  • Provide oversight over Human resources training, discipline management, performance management and evaluation, and welfare services.
  • Coordinate policy development for administration, planning, finance, human resource, quality management and assurance, information communication technology, campuses, health and safety and infrastru
  • Provide oversight for health care services, transport, estate management, enterprises, physical development and resource mobilization.
  • Ensuring compliance with the University statutes, policies and regulations.
  • Shall be an ex-officio member to the University Council.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned by superior officers from time to time.

Requirements

ACADEMIC

  • Be a professor or Associate Professor with an earned PhD from a recognized university.
  • Have a record of outstanding internationally recognized scholarly and academic leadership as evidenced by refereed journal publications, university-level books, research grants, awards, and supervision of postgraduate students.

COMPLIANCE

  • Compliance with the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.

ETHICS

  • High standards of integrity, professionalism, and ethical leadership consistent with the University’s Christian values.

EXPERIENCE

  • Have at least ten (10) years of relevant academic, administrative, and research experience in a university or comparable institution, including service in a senior academic and management position with demonstrable results.
  • Experience in institutional leadership that will spearhead the realization of the University Vision.
  • Proven record of resource mobilization and financial management.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Be conversant with national education laws and policies, current trends in higher education nationally and globally, and quality assurance requirements.
