DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

• Will be responsible for overall management and control of the department’s activities in the county policies
• Provide technical advice on matters pertaining initiation, formulation, review and implementation of
• Integrating National/County Development policies, goals and objectives into the tourism, culture & Arts functions.
• Coordinating and consulting with local, regional and international bodies on matters relating to tourism, culture & Arts as well as developing appropriate vision for the Department.
• Provide technical advice on matters pertaining to Tourism, culture & Arts overall planning, direction, overseeing, coordination, evaluation and implementation of programmes/projects of the Department.
• Ensure the establishment and management of community cultural centers, art galleries, tourist attraction sites and promote talent amongst the youths in the County.
• Co-ordination and implementation of tourism product development, diversification and sustainability programmes
• Undertaking market surveys and other relevant research
• Preparing reports and briefs
• Overseeing the organization of regional and inter-county fairs, meetings, conferences and exhibitions
• Maintenance of necessary linkages between the Department and other relevant stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Served in the grade of Deputy Director Tourism/Culture or in a comparable and relevant position for a minimum period of three (3) years in the Public Service or served six (6) years in the private sector at a senior managerial position in a relevant field.
• A Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields: Tourism, Environmental Science, Business Administration, Cultural Studies, Creative Art, Theatre and Film Studies, Sociology, or International Relations or any other equivalent qualification in a related field from a recognized institution
• Master’s degree in any of the following fields: – Tourism, Environmental Science, Business Administration, Cultural Studies, Creative Art, Theatre and Film Studies, Sociology, or International Relations or any other equivalent qualification in a related field from a recognized institution
• Demonstrated competence as reflected in work performance and results
• Meet the requirements of Chapter six of the Constitution on leadership and integrity
