Job Description

Requirements for appointment

For appointment to this grade an officer must have: –

  • Served in the grade of Senior Deputy Director or Deputy Director, teacher management, for a minimum period of three (3) years;

OR

  •  Eight (8) years of experience in a comparable position in the education sector;
  • Master’s degree from a recognized University is an added advantage.
  • Certificate in Leadership Course or equivalent qualification lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
  • Met the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution; and
  • Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities will entail:

  • Establishing the current staffing levels and projecting teacher demand and supply;
  • Spearheading the recruitment and posting of newly recruited teachers;
  • Spearheading the deployment and transfer of teachers;
  • Coordinating teacher competitive promotion;
  • Coordinating the implementation of the Directorate’s performance contract;
  • Spearheading the development of Directorate’s policies.
  • Oversee teacher rationalization;
  • Overseeing induction of new employees in the Directorate and new recruited /deployed teachers;
  • Offering technical support towards the development of staffing policies;
  • Spearheading the development and review of the Directorates risk management (RM);
  • Formulating, interpreting and ensuring implementation of Staffing policies, strategies and work plans;
  • Ensuring implementation of Audit recommendations within the Directorate;
  • Overseeing the development and implementation of the Directorate’s budgets;
  • Engaging relevant stakeholders on staffing matters; and
  • Supervising and guiding employees for optimum performance.

The terms and remuneration benefits for this Grade:

  • Basic Salary Scale: Kshs.328,006 – Kshs.416,568
  • House Allowance: Kshs.60,000
  • Commuter Allowance: Kshs.20,000
  • Leave Allowance: As provided in TSC Secretariat
  • Annual Leave: 30 working days per calendar year
  • Medical Cover: As provided in the TSC Secretariat Medical Scheme
  • Terms of Service: Five (5) years Contract renewable once Subject to satisfactory performance
