Job Description

The Central Bank of Kenya is a public institution established under Article 231 of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010. The Bank is responsible for formulating monetary policy to achieve and maintain price stability and issuing currency. Pursuant to the CBK Act, the Central Bank promotes financial stability through regulation, supervision and licensing of financial institutions under its mandate. The Bank also provides oversight of payment, clearing and settlement systems. All these efforts are geared towards fostering liquidity, solvency and proper functioning of the financial system. The Bank also formulates and implements foreign exchange policy and manages foreign exchange reserves. CBK is the banker for, adviser to, and fiscal agent of the Government. In discharging its mandate, the Central Bank contributes to the country’s economic development and growth, and promotes the interest of the public. The Bank strives to carry out its statutory mandate effectively and efficiently guided by the principles of integrity and transparency.

Job Purpose

Reporting to the Transport Manager, the incumbent shall be responsible for overseeing and ensuring safe transportation of Bank personnel, goods or persons on Bank or bank assigned vehicles.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drive Bank’s passengers and any other authorized passengers to approved destinations in a safe and timely manner.
  • Execute daily work instructions in accordance with the work schedules in the Transport Office.
  • Ensure compliance with the CBK transport operating procedures, traffic laws and regulations.
  • Deliver vehicles for scheduled and ad-hoc repairs and maintenance at the Bank’s appointed garages and arrange collection upon completion of the job.
  • Prompt reporting of accidents and incidents to the immediate supervisor.
  • Daily vehicle inspections and prompt reporting of any malfunction or defects that need attention to the immediate supervisor.
  • Punctuality in reporting to work and maintaining general cleanliness of vehicles assigned.
  • Ability to maintain and care for vehicle work ticket(s) for vehicle(s) assigned.
  • Maintenance of good working relationships with internal and external and external clients.
  • Ensure security and safety of the vehicle, passengers and/or goods therein.
  • Ensure assigned work assignments are complete and maybe required from time to time to work past working hours/weekends to ensure task completion.
  • Adhere to Bank policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Any other duties and responsibilities assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a mean grade of C- (minus) and above.
  • Occupational Test Grade certificate III for vehicle mechanics qualification will be an added advantage.
  • Valid driving license for the following vehicle categories B, C1, & DPossession of a license to operate other vehicle categories D3 and G will be a significant advantage.
  • A First Aid Certificate Certification from a recognized institution will be an added advantage.

Work Experience

  • At least five (5) years driving experience.
  • Experience in Defensive Driving.
