Job Description

Master Power Systems Limited (MPSL) came into inception in 2001 and is now a leading engineering and contracting company specialized in designing and executing electrical works, with the main focus being in the corporate market strong minded in providing quality service. Today, MPSL has grown and works on electrical installation projects all over Kenya, Uganda and it is spreading far across East and Central Africa. With highly experienced staff of about 250 on payroll and 400 casual staff, we have the capacity to deliver the best. We are continuously striving to expand our operations by diversifying geographical risks and consequently we have opened up an office in Mombasa and Kampala, Uganda.

Responsibilities

  • Install new electrical systems and equipment, ensuring they meet industry standards and comply with safety regulations.
  • Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures used in manufacturing processes, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
  • Work closely with production and maintenance teams and other teams to troubleshoot issues and improve the efficiency of electrical systems.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
  • Participate in meetings to discuss upgrades or modifications to existing systems.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and installations.
  • Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on jo specifications and local codes.
  • Ensure that electrical tools and equipment used in the maintenance and repair processes are properly maintained, calibrated, and in good working condition.
  • Stay updated with electrical codes, regulations, and safety standards relevant to the industry.
  • Ensure implementation of changes as necessary to ensure compliance.
  • Provide guidance and support to other staff regarding electrical safety protocols and best practices is often part of the job.
  • Direct and train workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
  • Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes.
  • Identify areas for improvement in electrical systems, processes, or equipment to enhance efficiency, safety, and productivity within the manufacturing environment
  • Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Degree/Diploma in Electrical Engineering or other equivalents.
  • Must have up to 3 years’ experience as an electrician working in an industrial environment
  • Must have expertise with PLC Controls.
  • Excellent understanding of safety rules in an industrial setting
  • Excellent communication ability
  • Possess certification or equivalent qualification or license
  • Possess strong electrical and mechanical abilities
  • Must be able to use basic tools and machinery
  • Awareness of operational machinery problems in short proximity
  • Strong ability to read measure devices and blueprints
  • Critical Thinking: once a problem is identified, industrial electricians should be able to deal with it critically
