Job Description

Migori County is a county in the former Nyanza Province of southwestern Kenya. It is located in western Kenya and borders Homa Bay County, Kisii County, Narok, Tanzania and Lake Victoria to the West. The county also borders Uganda via Migingo Island in Lake Victoria.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordination of research in renewable energy;
  • Promote the development, production, conservation and utilization of renewable energy;
  • Monitoring, supervision and evaluation of renewable energy, energy efficiency and conservation projects
  • Promotion of development of appropriate local capacity for the manufacture, installation, maintenance and operation of renewable technologies;
  • Development and promotion of off-grid and decentralized electrical systems and hybrids
  • Promotion, coordination and administration of outreach and knowledge management on renewable energy sources such as wind power, small hydro, biogas, and solar power technologies.
  • Monitoring of utility metering systems including electric, and natural gas
  • Preparation of design drawings, bill of quantities for energy projects
  • Supervision of energy projects
  • Coordinate repair of energy infrastructures.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by county director of energy
  • Promote awareness or use of alternative or renewable energy sources.
  • Conduct energy audits to evaluate energy use and to identify conservation and cost reduction measures.

Requirement for Appointment

  •  Be a Kenyan citizen.
  • Be in possession of Bachelor of Science/Technology in any of the following disciplines: Energy, Mechanical/Mechatronic /Electrical/Bio systems/Energy Engineering or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.
  • Be registered by the Engineers’ Board of Kenya (EBK) as a graduate Engineer.
  • Have at least 3 years working experience in an energy related sector.
  • Experience in the field of renewable energy development for a period of not less than 2 years will be desirable.
  • Have good communication, presentation, research and analytical skills.
  • Have Knowledge in computer aided design software including but not limited to AutoCAD, Revit.
