The National Housing Corporation (NHC) is a statutory body established by an Act of Parliament Cap. 117. The primary mandate of NHC is to play a principal role in the implementation of the Government’s Housing Policies and Programmes.

Job Specification:

Duties and responsibilities at this level entail assisting in:

• Participating in feasibility study and planning for housing and infrastructure projects;
• Preparing engineering designs, technical specifications and drawings;
• Seeking and obtaining County and statutory approvals for engineering designs and drawings;
• Preparing tender and contract documentation for engineering aspects;
• Participate in evaluation of contractual claims;
• Liaison with necessary agencies/authorities for inspections and approvals of engineering aspects;
• Participating in the tendering processes of housing and infrastructure projects;
• Supervise construction of housing and infrastructure projects to ensure quality and adherence to specification with respect to engineering aspects;
• Undertake stakeholder engagement for infrastructure projects and matters;
• Initiate collaboration with project enablers such as utility and service providers;
• Appraisal and Certification of completed engineering works and issue necessary certificates;
• Prepare documents required to seek and obtain certificate of occupation;
• Ensure proper custody of all project designs, drawings and standard operation manuals;
• Participate in research on housing and infrastructure designs, technology and materials;
• Preparing material schedules and labour costs for maintenance works in liaison with Estates Directorate;
• Guide Engineering Assistant in execution of engineering duties.

Person Specification:

• Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
• Proficiency in computer applications; and
• Fulfills the requirements of chapter six of the Constitution.
