About Job

The ESG officer will be responsible for ensuring the LEAF project comply with the established safeguards.

Key Role and Responsibilities:

  • Support the preparation of safeguard conformance report for the LEAF project according to Cancun Safeguard guidelines and TREES standard.
  • Establish the relevant LEAF project stakeholders.
  • Establish plans for stakeholder engagement in conformance with ART TREES requirements.
  • Facilitate dialogue and engagement with local communities to understand their concerns, needs and aspirations in regards to the LEAF project.
  • Identify and assess ESG related risks that could impact the LEAF project operations and reputations.
  • Draft carbon related legal documents.
  • Interpretation of carbon, forest, and Environmental laws, regulations and policies.
  • Advice on legal issues affecting carbon trading and the market.
  • Monitoring and ensuring compliance with local and international regulations related to carbon credits and environmental initiates.
  • Advice on implementing ethical business practices throughout the LEAF project.
  • Spearhead resolution of stakeholder disputes accordingly.
  • Any other duties assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Qualifications Required:

Essential

  • A Bachelor of Law Degree (LLB).
  • A minimum of 4 years proven experience in related field, with at least 2years in Environmental Law practise.
  • Clear understanding of international and local Laws,regulations  and policies related to environmental management , carbon trading  and reporting
  • Experience in developing and implementing strategies for positive engagement with local communities  that may be affected a carbon project.
  • Knowledge of risk management principles and the ability to develop strategies to mitigate ESG risks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong understanding of REDD+ strategies and policies.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Clear understanding of UNFCCC functions.
  • Passion for sustainability and environmental responsibility.
  • Detail-oriented and committed to delivering high-quality results.

Desirable

  • Analytical mindset with problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of carbon markets, carbon accounting and various certification standards
