Job Description

Ol Pejeta is the largest black rhino sanctuary in east Africa, and home to three of the world’s last remaining northern white rhino. It is the only place in Kenya to see chimpanzees, in a Sanctuary established to rehabilitate animals rescued from the black market

Role summary

  • Department: Shared Services
  • Reporting to: Head of Shared Services

This role’s main responsibilities include: –

  •  Buildings and Facilities: Manage the maintenance, repair, and improvement of various structures and facilities within the conservancy. Develop maintenance schedules, oversee renovations, and ensure building codes and regulations compliance.
  •  Electrical Systems: Manage the planning, installation, maintenance, and repair of Electrical systems & installations. Monitor power supply, ensure compliance with electrical standards, and address electrical issues promptly.
  •  Project Planning and Execution: Develop comprehensive project plans, including budgets, timelines, and resource allocation. Lead project teams, coordinate activities, and ensure projects are completed within scope, on time, and within budget.
  •  Resource Management: Allocate resources efficiently, including labour, equipment, and materials, to achieve project objectives. Coordinate with procurement and vendors to ensure timely availability of necessary resources.
  •  Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed about relevant regulations, permits, and industry standards related to Electrical and Civil works. Ensure all projects and activities adhere to legal and regulatory requirements.
  •  Health and Safety: Promote and enforce a safety culture across all facilities management activities. Implement and oversee safety protocols, conduct regular inspections, and address any safety concerns promptly.
  •  Team Leadership: Manage and lead a team of technicians, contractors, and support staff.
  • Provide mentorship, training, and performance evaluations to ensure the team delivers highquality results.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with internal departments, external contractors, regulatory agencies, and local communities to communicate project updates, address concerns, and foster positive relationships.

Requirements

Education, qualifications, essential skills, knowledge, and experience

  •  Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  •  Proven experience (5+ years) in facilities management, including buildings and electrical systems.
  •  Proven expertise in CAD systems.
  •  Deep understanding of project costings including but not limited to Conceptual estimates & BoQs
  •  Strong project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  •  In-depth knowledge of civil engineering principles and construction techniques.

Key skills and qualities

  •  Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  •  Proficiency in project management software, Microsoft Office Suite, and relevant engineering software.
  •  Familiarity with relevant regulations, permits, and industry standards.
  •  Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams in a complex and dynamic environment.
  •  Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  •  Strong organisational and multitasking skills.
