Job Description

We Supply Avocados From East Africa To Global Markets By Combining Large-Scale Production With End-To-End Distribution

Farm Manager- Uasin Gishu

  • The Farm Manager will oversee all day-to-day operations of large-scale avocado production, ensuring full compliance with AFT’s Integrated Avocado Production Manual and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Core Duties Include:

  • Supervise all land preparation activities – ploughing, chiseling, leveling, ridging, and drainagesetup.
  • Oversee hole excavation, backfilling, and manure-fertilizer mixing.
  • Manage seedling transplanting, watering, staking, and mulching for high survival rates. Supervise construction of reservoirs and installation of irrigation systems.
  •  Implement fertilization and foliar feeding programs based on AFT agronomic schedules.
  • Coordinate weeding, pruning, canopy management, and field sanitation.
  • Lead pest and disease management using Integrated Pest Management (IPM) protocols
  • Ensure soil and water testing, lime application, and corrective actions.
  • Oversee farm infrastructure, including roads, drainage, fencing, and equipment maintenance.
  • Supervise and motivate Squad Leaders, Supervisors, and farm workers.
  • Enforce Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) standards and labor welfare policies.
  • Conduct weekly farm meetings and submit weekly reports to the Director of Farming Strategy.
  • Maintain accurate records on labor, irrigation, fertilizer, and pest control per block.
  • Liaise with agronomists, technicians, and quality officers for continuous farmimprovement.
  • Ensure production targets are met while maintaining cost efficiency and quality compliance.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture, or Project Management.
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience managing large-scale horticultural or avocado farms.
  • Proven leadership in managing teams and large-scale field operations. Knowledge of irrigation systems, reservoir construction, pest control and machinery is addedadvantage.
  • Excellent planning, budgeting, and record-keeping skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and digital record systems.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. High integrity, accountability, and adaptability to dynamic work
