Job Purpose

 

To Plan and direct marketing activities of the Company to achieve the financial and business objectives for Ferring Pharma in SSA (Sub-Saharan Africa). Sustain effective support of the Marketing Management team and Shared Services.

 

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Develop strategic and tactical plans to achieve revenue, profit / market share and life cycle objectives for assigned brands in the portfolio within SSA.
  • Develops and evaluates strategic alternatives for brand positioning across assigned brands. Ensures ongoing validation of the brand positioning statements and alignment with key messages.
  • Leads the development and implementation of innovative strategies and comprehensive plans for novel approaches for reaching customers, Key Opinion Leaders, and consumers across assigned portfolio of products.
  • Reviews marketing activities across assigned portfolio, evaluates their effectiveness for implementation, and provides recommendations for improvement.  Defines the vision, long-term goals, and objectives for assigned brands and ensures that implementation is aligned with the vision.
  • Launch assigned new brands and stock keeping units and line extensions to ensure future health of the company’s product portfolio.
  • Identify portfolio growth opportunities in the market to explore the commercial potentials of such opportunities.
  • Manage external agencies to ensure that appropriate, accurate and timely brand messages are communicated to the right target audience, using the most appropriate cost-effective medium.
  • Develop and dispatch relevant brand promotional materials to the field force in a timely manner.
  • Effectively manage cross-functional teams of internal customers of marketing research, medical, regulatory, demand management, procurement & logistics and sales  to ensure an optimal mix of the key elements for the success of all brands in the portfolio.
  • Actively participate in relevant medical conferences (local and international) to build a positive image for brands, encourage brand loyalty and share best practice learnings for the brands.
  • Manage brands with extended brand teams (cross-functional) for best operational and strategic results.
  • Train medical representatives on brand technical knowledge and brand selling to facilitate the attainment of brand sales objectives.
  • Train representatives-on-the-job to improve product knowledge and selling skills.
  • Design all brand materials for internal and external communications in line with global brand standards and specifications: logo, pantone colours, brand code and prescribing information.
  • Effectively manage medical, regulatory and marketing information on brands to achieve portfolio objectives in line with Ferring global policy,  marketing code and commercial ethics code of main SSA countries.
  • Carry out above-the-line (ATL) or below-the-line (BTL) health educational programmes, where necessary, for the attainment of brand strategic objectives.

 

Candidate Profile and Qualifications:

  •  Strong marketing and selling experience in the pharmaceutical sector with at least 5 years commercial experience in a regional  operating environment.
  • Performance Management Knowledge and Interpersonal Skills.
  • External Knowledge – products, therapy, environment, competitors, customers trends.
  • Cross-functional team management is necessary.
  • Technical/professional/financial acumen, knowledge of current and future market, product knowledge and product life cycle management skill is critical.
  • Brand management skill is a key requirement.
  • Project management skill is important.
  • A proven track record of continuous success.
  • Previous successful experience of leading teams in a commercial environment, especially in developing capability.
  • Proven ability to develop comprehensive strategic business development plans for the business.
  •  Financial Acumen, knowledge of current and future market.
  • Demonstrate lifecycle management skills.
  • Building Strategic Working Relationships e.g. with KOL’s
  • Leading through Vision and Values.
  • Communication (written and formal presentation skills).
  • Must be prepared to travel within territories in SSA region.
  • The incumbent should be in possession of a scientific, medical, Pharmacy degree. An MBA qualification will be an advantage.
  • Must be fluent in English, knowledge of French will be a plus.
  • An experience of ART (Assisted Reproductive Therapy)  will be a plus.
