Overall Job Summary

The candidate will work closely with Extension Agents, farmers’ organizations, and various stakeholders within the agricultural value chains to ensure the effective delivery of digital advisory services and report to the Country Head, Kenya. The candidate will play a pivotal role in roll out of its products in the Kenyan market, focusing on coordinating activities related to the digitization of farmer organizations and the successful implementation of e-extension advisory services through the Farmer Chatbot.

Key Responsibilities

Coordination and Capacity Building:

• Collaborate with Extension Agents and farmers’ organizations to ensure effective implementation of the Farmer Chatbot and digital advisory services.
• Conduct training and capacity-building sessions for Extension Agents and farmers’ organizations on utilizing digital tools, accessing advisory content, and leveraging technology for improved agricultural practices.
• Work together with the Country teams to facilitate workshops and knowledge-sharing sessions to enhance the technical skills of stakeholders within the agricultural value chains.

Identify entry points for creating digital farmer networks in Kenya

• In partnership with the County Head, liaise with government partners, consortium partners, research partners, technology team, and internal team members to scope out specific entry point use cases
• Work with farmers and farmer organizations to identify opportunities to improve processes and outcomes through digitization
• Monitor the implementation of the entry point use cases and recommend course corrections as needed to ensure alignment with identified strategic objectives and success criteria

Stakeholder Engagement:

• Work together with the project manager to engage with local agricultural stakeholders, government agencies, NGOs, and other relevant entities to foster partnerships and collaborations for the project’s success.
• Build and maintain relationships with Extension Agents, farmers’ organizations, and community leaders to ensure the adoption of Digital Greens Product.

Monitoring and Evaluation:

• Monitor the usage and adoption of DG’s products by farmers’ organizations and Extension Agents.
• Monitor the data collection process at the farmers’ organizations.
• Gather feedback from Extension Agents and farmer organizations to improve the quality and relevance of advisory content provided by the Farmer Chatbot.
• Contribute to the development of progress reports and assessments of project outcomes.

Communication and Reporting:

• Communicate project updates, challenges, and successes to the Digital Green’s Country Head on a regular basis.
• Collaborate with the product teams to create content for Farmer Chatbot and ensure its relevance and accuracy.
• Build and maintain relationships with Extension Agents, farmers’ organizations, and community leaders to ensure the adoption of Digital Greens Product.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Livestock Sciences, Rural Development, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the agricultural sector, preferably in capacity building and stakeholder engagement.
• Strong understanding of agricultural value chains and rural development principles.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Proficiency in computer literacy, including the use of digital tools and applications.
• Basic skills in data management and analysis are an added advantage
