Job Description

Scania is a leading supplier of solutions and services for sustainable transport, as well as engines for industrial applications and power generation. Scania East Africa is the regional distributor for Scania products and services, and serves Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda.

Job Summary:

  • The Finance Manager will be responsible for managing the overall finance and accounting functions within Scania East Africa (Kenya), which includes supervising and coordinating the areas of accounting, financial reporting and debtors control.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the accounting department
  • Manage local finance systems
  • Finance strategy
  • Accounting support
  • Manage compliance
  • Manage the areas of supplier payments and credit control

Core Competencies Required:

Accounting and Financial Systems, Processes and Technology:

  • You can design, implement, and maintain financial management and reporting systems and complementary financial and administrative business processes to support the effective and judicious use of financial resources.

Business Perspective:

  • You have an understanding of business issues, processes, and outcomes to enhance business performance.

Customer Understanding:

  • You can demonstrate an understanding of customers, their commercial offerings, industry, business, motivational drivers and needs, and you can understand how Scania can contribute to the optimization of customer profitability.

Information Gathering and Processing:

  • You are able to locate and collect data from appropriate sources and analyzing it to prepare meaningful and concise reports that summarize the information collected.

Managing People:

  • You are able to manage others to ensure their work contributes to organizational goals, as well as developing individuals, building teams, resolving conflicts and applying workplace policies.

Managing Resources:

  • You are able to plan, allocate, and mobilize resources (human, physical, information and financial) to achieve organizational goals.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field
  • Qualified CPA(K)
  • At least 8 years of working experience, 3 of which should be in middle/senior management
  • Experience with ERP, advanced Excel, BI and finance systems automation
  • Results-oriented with a proven track record of successfully overseeing all financial operations within an organization
  • Skilled in leading financial teams, budgeting, forecasting, book closing and reporting
  • Ability to work under strict reporting deadlines
  • Possess strong communication and analytical skills
  • External audit experience is an added advantage
