Job Description

Embu County Profile Embu County Government headed by H.E Governor Martin Wambora is one of the 47 counties in Kenya which came into operation after the March 4 2013 General Election. As an entity exercising constitutional authority, it is responsible for county legislation (outlined in article 185 of the Constitution of Kenya), executive functions (outlined in article 183), functions outlined in the fourth schedule of the constitution of Kenya, functions transferred from the national government through article 187 of the constitution of Kenya, functions agreed upon with other counties under article 189(2) of the constitution of Kenya, and establishment and staffing of a public service (under article 235 of the Constitution of Kenya).

Duties and Responsibilities

This is the entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will be on-the-job training and will work under the supervision of an experienced officer.

Duties and responsibilities will entail:

  • Operating appliances and communication equipment
  • Performing specialized functions of responding to emergencies to prevent and/or minimize injuries, deaths and loss of property.
  • Safeguarding their own and other people’s safety at all times in their operations.
  • Playing a central role in rescue operations during emergencies.
  • Inspecting and maintaining appliances and equipment in a goal Beh of repair.
  • Following the county disaster management policy and p
  • Performing any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor

Requirements for Appointment

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education mean grade D plain or its equivalent and relevant qualification
  • Fireman 11 Certificate from a recognized Fire Services Training School/Institution
  • Attended a First Aid Certificate Course lasting not less than one (1) week at St. John
  • Ambulance or Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized institution
  • Be physically fit
  • Be medically fit as certified by a Government Doctor
  • Possessing a certificate in driving, Emergency Medical Response (EMR) and Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) will be an added advantage.
  • Possessing a diving certificate from a recognized institution in Kenya will be an added advantage.
