Job Description

e-commerce solution revolutionizing car ownership in sub-Saharan Africa. We started with an automotive marketplace, leveraging technology and robust offline operations to reduce pain points in the market for locally-used vehicles, delivering quality, convenience, and value to our customers.

Role Description

The Fleet Manager will be responsible for overseeing all vehicles on the various lots across three + locations at Peach. They will oversee the company’s fleet of used vehicles, ensuring smooth operations, timely and optimized vehicle transfers between locations, data tracking and analysis to inform strategic decision making. This role involves close collaboration across multiple departments and interfaces with customers as well

Duties and responsibilities

  • People & Operations Management
  • Ensure that the location-specific teams are completing the various tasks that are required. For example, ensure trackers are filled, cars are cleaned, fueled, washed and ready for customer handover.
    • Result: Location specific teams are adhering to their roles and responsibilities. Vehicles are maintained in high-quality condition. Weekly meetings are held and managed.
  • Performance Management of Fleet Team. Ensure that every team member on the fleet team is performing to Peach standard
    • Result: Track performance of all Fleet team members and ensure that they are performing their various roles and responsibilities.
  • Coaching, mentoring and 1-1 management of the team.
    • Result: 1:1s are had will all members of the Fleet team; career development is prioritized and relevant training are ID’d and given.
  • Own the tracking of all the data across the three locations for car and fleet-specific data points – including but not limited to: number of cars on the lot per location; fuel costs on average per location; average number of days cars are on the lot before being sold etc.
    • Result: All trackers are filled accurately by the individuals running these teams; data is analyzed and used at various meetings to ensure decision making is data driven.
  • Manage any issues that come up on the lot, and direct the team to respond accordingly.
    • Result: “First Responder” for fleet – able to deal with issues that arise, and direct the team to the best decision in the situation.

Customer Service

  • As needed, Customers are attended to with care and it is the priority of the whole Fleet team to meet the needs of the customer, first.
    • Result: There are no customer complaints about engaging with the Fleet team. The Fleet team ensures the customers are put first and supports the Sales team as needed.
  • Internal Team Collaborations
  • Data systems and processes are built in conjunction with adjacent teams (Sales, Inspections etc.)
    • Result: New systems and data collection are built with adjacent teams to ensure usability and reduce duplication.
  • Supporting investigations for any accidents on the lot that both meet the needs of the customer without being hefty costs to the business; and systems are created to ensure outcomes and lessons learned.
    • Result: Investigations into any issues are fair for both the team and the customer; systems are built in response to issues; lessons are learned and mistakes are not made twice.
  • Strategize on scaling the business, problem solve
  • Iterate, test and implement systems to support the scale and growth of Peach in Kenya (i.e. if we have 4 locations across Nairobi and another location in Nakuru, how do we organize viewings for potential buyers? How do we move vehicles from locations effectively and with low cost? How do we better understand which vehicles sell at the various locations and strategically place vehicles to meet the needs of potential buyers in those locations)
    • Result: Scalable systems are built that meet the current needs of Peach, while considering future needs.
  • Dive into larger strategic questions that will prevent our ability to scale as a business (i.e. how can we move more cars while spending less on fuel? How can we move cars from NBO to Nakuru?)
  • Result: Strategic questions are looked into and systems are built to manage.

Requirements:

  • Experience working in logistics with a proven track record of systems building in this space
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Interested candidates must have a valid driving license and minimum of one years driving experience (valid DL required)
  • Candidates with knowledge of or experience working with vehicles will be given preference.
