Job Description

The Nation Media Group (NMG) founded by His Highness the Aga Khan in 1959 has become the largest independent media house in East and Central Africa. It has been quoted on the Nairobi Stock Exchange since the early 1970s. As the leading multi-media house in the East African region, it has print as well as electronic media and the Internet which attracts a regular readership quite unparalleled in the region.

Summary

As a Full Stack Developer at Nation Media Group, you will play a pivotal role in developing and maintaining our digital platforms and applications. You’ll work in a collaborative environment, contributing to both front-end and back-end development, and you’ll have the opportunity to make a significant impact on our digital presence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain web applications and platforms.
  • Collaborate with the UI/UX team to implement designs and user interfaces.
  • Ensure the responsiveness and performance of applications.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize code.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and best practices.
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of development projects.

Qualifications, Experience & skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Full Stack Developer.
  • Strong proficiency in front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Experience with popular JavaScript libraries and frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js).
  • Proficiency in back-end technologies such as Node.js, Python, or Ruby on Rails.
  • Solid understanding of database management systems (e.g., SQL, NoSQL).
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • A link to your portfolio showcasing recent work is required.
