Job Description

We promote and safeguard the rights to inclusion of women, children and teenagers in Italy and throughout the world, on the basic assumption that the safeguard of women’s rights is a mandatory condition to achieve respect of children’s rights and, vice versa, the protection of children’s rights is most important for the achievement of women’s rights.

Duties and Responsibilities-

In relation to the implementation of the project activities, the Project Officer will have to perform the following specific tasks:

  • Coordination and execution of the project activities, including workshops, training sessions, and community outreach events.
  • Coordinates and supports the project staff in specific activities aimed at addressing sexual reproductive health and combating gender-based violence
  • Provides technical assistance to the project team on how to integrate gender issues in all aspects of implementation, taking into account the needs of all population groups based on gender, age and diversity;
  • Supports capacity building of staff, partners and communities on how to manage SRH and gender-related project activities;
  • Maintains relationships with all stakeholders to ensure that gender is respected and integrated in different activities;
  • Contributes to the creation of awareness and information materials focused on SRHR and gender based violence.
  • In collaboration with We World MEAL officer, supports evidence generation and documentation of good practises for lesson learning and knowledge sharing.
  • Together with team members oversees the development and quality assurance of – technical guidelines, protocols, informational materials, and all other relevant resources required to support increased access to quality SRH services
  • Leads in the provision of Technical Assistance, capacity development initiatives and policy dialogue in SRHR, GBV and Women’s rights
  • Builds and strengthens strategic networks and linkages with key actors including decision makers, existing advocacy networks within the project areas and link advocacy efforts with County and national policy agendas.
  • Assist the Coordinator in facilitating training across the project, reviewing curricula, and tools, conducting field visits, addressing identified gaps, and promoting systematic use of data to improve the quality of the project’s approaches and interventions.
  • Works with the field officers to strengthen the capacity of local CHEWs/CHAs/CHPs and Community Based Organizations and private vendors to provide services for girls.
  • Work closely with the project MEAL officer to systematically conduct data analysis at the project levels, producing data dashboards and learning briefs that can be used to inform interactive project design and implementation.
  • Supports the Project Coordinator to identify, monitor and manage any risks to the attainment of project results, particularly those related to quality service provision and safeguarding.
  • Represents the project in appropriate stakeholder engagements and meetings at the County level.
  • Builds collaborative relationships between ASRH activities with the broader Adolescent Health, maternal and reproductive health related work
  • Prepares periodic reports and shares them with the Project Coordinator;

Requirements

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Nursing, Clinical Medicine or Social Sciences, with relevant work experience in Humanitarian work, and or Adolescents Sexual Reproductive Health and SGBV.
  • Minimum of 3 years working experience with reputable NGO’s
  • The technical expertise in delivering quality care, SGBV, SRHR.
  • Good understanding of Kenya Community Health Strategy in sexual reproductive health, and rights projects will be an added advantage.
  • Ability to work and hold joint planning sessions with Technical Working Groups TWG and stakeholders at the County level.
  • Good understanding of gender equality, women rights, reproductive health and ability to work with and understand the youth while maintaining professionalism.
  • Strong experience in facilitating training and development of Training manuals
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work with a variety of partners, including grassroots community members, religious leaders, youth organizations, and authorities at different levels.
  • Flexibility and ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment;
  • Affinity for or interest in SGBV and ASRH,
  • Excellent communication (writing and oral) skills and reporting skills in English

Desirable

  • Knowledge of project design, project management, budget development and monitoring
  • Good experience in attaining the delivery of donor-funded projects and working with donor organizations and development partners in the specific sector.
  • Good networking skills, with experience in a health development organization.
  • Financial Management skills especially development & management of budgets and budget reports.
  • Excellent in MS Office packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint,), Web and social media skills
  • Work well as a team in a multi-cultural environment while maintaining a high level of motivation
  • Demonstrable ability to adapt to changing project priorities and emergency priorities that may arise.
