Job Description

The Red Cross is a humanitarian organisation whose work is driven by a desire to help others. It is committed to, and bound by, the fundamental principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and acts as the guardian of the Geneva Conventions. Our work is volunteer-based and organised to ensure that we can reach people in need quickly and efficiently. The Red Cross has local branches throughout Norway, while the Movement has a global reach through its network of volunteers. Given the frequency with which wars break out and the ever-recurring famines, the need may seem overwhelming. Therefore, it is important to know that a lot of people are also working to make things better.

Purpose:

The role aims to expand NorCross’s donor base by seeking new donors and positioning the organization to attract funding effectively.

Responsibilities

Strategic Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to diversifying and increasing Norwegian Red Cross funding sources.
  • Oversee and ensure the quality of grant management processes in the region.
  • Support the thematic positioning of Norwegian Red Cross in collaboration with technical and operational units.

Operational Responsibilities:

  • Conduct donor mapping and identify new funding opportunities aligned with NorCross Strategy.
  • Collaborate with Country/Regional Representatives to network with existing and potential donors and consortium members.
  • Facilitate design processes for applications and funding proposals in close cooperation with financial, results, and programmatic staff.
  • Ensure quality assurance of all funding proposals and reports to donors before submission.
  • Coordinate the quality assurance of all grant agreements before signing.
  • Maintain an overview of grants and their status, ensuring compliance with donor conditions and deadlines.
  • Extract insights from different funding streams to enhance organizational readiness in resource diversification.

Competencies:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in humanitarian affairs focusing on project cycle management and budgeting.
  • Experience in humanitarian financing, grant management, fundraising, and donor relations.
  • Ability to design and coordinate successful bids and consortium partnerships.
  • Strong networking, external representation, and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to analyze and synthesize complex issues. Additional fluency in Arabic would be an asset for the role in Lebanon, while proficiency in Spanish would be advantageous for position in Panama.

Reporting to:

  • Head of Partnerships and Resource Mobilization Unit – Oslo
