Graduate Assistant

Requirements:

  • Must be a holder of first-class honours or second-class honours upper division
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Geomatics & Geospatial Information System or
  • Bachelor of Science in Geospatial Information Systems and Remote Sensingfrom DeKUT.
  • Must have demonstrable experience in GIS programming and spatial tools development with competencies in the following programming languages:
  • Python, Java script, HTML/CSS, and SQL. Experience working with Typescript,
  • Python Frameworks and Google Earth Engine (GEE) will be an added advantage.

Responsibility:

  • The successful candidate will be considered for a full scholarship covering tuition fees and stipend to pursue a Master of Science Degree in Geospatial Information Science & Remote Sensing at Dedan Kimathi University of Technology.
  • The candidate will be expected to dedicate 100% of their time towards the project research and implementation elements.
  • The candidate will undertake research in line with the overall research project.
  • He/she will work under the leadership of the Head of the Remote Sensing Research Group (RSRG) at the University.
  • The candidate will collect and analyse field derived data; prepare presentations, reports and summaries of specific areas of the project and/or the overall project.
  • The candidate may be called upon to make training materials on research aspects for the local communities and other audiences. He/she may be called upon to train these groups of audiences on the research products and tools.
  • The candidate will be required to submit quarterly progress reports on the implementation and progress of the project.
