Job Description

Options Consultancy Services Limited is a consultancy organisation providing technical and management expertise in the health and social sectors to governments and international development partners to transform the health of women and children. We provide information, expertise and influence to governments, health workers, NGOs and businesses to catalyse change so that health services can be accessed by the people who need them most.

Main purpose of Internship

  • Grants Management Intern will gain experience in grant management, which is a crucial skill to move up in the non-profit sector.
  • Grants Management Intern will learn more about the pre-award process for building a funding portfolio in a non-profit.
  • Grants Management Intern will learn the basics of participatory, innovative and adaptive grants mechanism.
  • Grants Management Intern will develop an in-depth understanding of TGG-ALM programming in ending FGM in Africa.

Main duties

  • Work closely with the Grants Officer to review call of applications and pre-award grant processes.
  • Assist in reviewing of grantees monthly reports and follow up on grantees disbursements.
  • Assist in maintaining records in good and presentable order.
  • Monitoring and mentoring on grants for the grantees
  • Support budgeting processes with small and medium grantees.
  • In liaison with the Grants Officer, maintain and ensure appropriate updates to the
  • Grants Management tracker including accuracy of data
  • Participate spot checks and quarterly review meetings with grantee and other stakeholders.
  • Support in documenting learnings from the participatory grants making mechanism.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Grants Officer/and or Project Manager
  • Provide support as needed in other areas of TGG-ALM programme.
  • Ensure that all work is aligned with the Programme’s Do No Harm, Safeguarding and Emotional wellbeing framework.
  • In the spirit of teamwork, provide flexible support to colleagues across Options and the consortium.

Please note that you may also be required to carry out reasonable additional ad-hoc duties, at the request of your line manager.

Requirements

Key skills

  • Ability to use basic functions of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office programs.
  • Strong interpersonal and analytical skills
  • Attentive to details
  • Able to deliver quality work within tight deadlines with minimal supervision;
  • Hard working and results oriented.
  • Verbal and written communication skills

Key experience

  • Basic financial management experience needed.

Formal education/qualifications

  • Pursuing bachelor’s degree or within one year after graduation from a bachelor’s or master’s programme in any business-related course
  • Pursuing Professional accounting qualification preferably CPA Part 3 or ACCA.

Personal attributes

  • Strong understanding of, and personal commitment to women and girls’ human rights, and equal opportunities
  • Fluency in English (spoken, written, reading)
  • Ability to travel locally as required
