Job Description

Mission To facilitate member health units in their provision of quality healthcare services through advocacy, health systems strengthening, networking and innovative health programme

Job Profile

CHAK is seeking to hire an experienced Grants Officer with expertise in finance and grants management to be based in Nairobi supporting the CDC-funded CHAP Stawisha project. The project supports HIV/TB/OVC services in faith based and county health facilities across 15 counties in the country, with offices in Meru, Embu, Kitui and Nairobi.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Administering routine finance functions by ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with established procedures and systems.
  • Ensure timely remittance of PAYE, WHT, NITA, HELB and VAT.
  • Ensuring compliance with financial management rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Accurately processing payments including uploading transfers in accordance with regulations and procedures and upload them on the online bank payment portal for further approvals.
  • Post payments in accordance with accepted standards and update the cashbook.
  • Reconcile supplier statements with the supplier ledger on a timely basis.
  • Ensure accurate and timely month-end closing tasks that include, account analysis, reconciliations, accruals, journal entries, actual to forecast variance analysis etc
  • Prepare and submit timely bank reconciliations.
  • Participate in planning and implementing risk assessments activities.
  • Guide partners in funding application (RFA), continuation application and sub-grant processing.
  • Support preparation of monthly payroll
  • Plan and facilitate continuous external audits, reviewing findings and planning corrective actions, as well as close out procedures for CHAK and implementing partners.
  • Participate in proposal and budget development for ongoing and upcoming project.
  • Ensure completeness, accuracy, and timely submission of financial reporting by implementing partners.
  • Provide capacity strengthening to CHAK staff and partners on resources planning, management, audits, and compliance in line with institutional policies, statutory regulations, donor/funder rules and regulations.
  • Any other lawful duties as assigned by your supervisor within the scope and nature of the position.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or related disciplines.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent current certification required.
  • 3 years of experience in a busy finance and grants office handling multiple projects.
  • Knowledge of financial software applications. Knowledge in Nav 365 will be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of USAID rules and regulation will be added advantage.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English
