Job Description

Mwangaza Light is a faith-based social enterprise partnering with churches to enhance energy access, women empowerment, and climate action in Kenya. We are a women-founded and women-led enterprise with a mission ‘to transform communities and protect the environment for future generations.ā€™

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project management: Lead planning, organizing, and executing all project deliverables, ensuring they are completed within the set timeframe.
  • Partnership Development: Collaborate with local churches to integrate them into the Green Churches initiative.
  • Policy Development: Develop environmental policies that align with each church’s mission and values, promoting sustainable practices.
  • Capacity Building: Train and empower church leaders and members in environmental stewardship and sustainable practices.
  • Last Mile Distribution (LMD): Prepare for and implement Last mile distribution in collaboration with church structures and the last mile distribution coordinator.
  • Community Engagement: Facilitate community outreach and engagement activities to raise awareness and promote participation in Green Churches initiatives.
  • Women Empowerment: Promote women’s empowerment through the Church Structures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Community Development, Project Management or related field.
  • 5-10 years proven experience in community development and project management.
  • Strong understanding of environmental issues and sustainable practices.
  • Experience working within church structures and understanding of church dynamics.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Passion for environmental conservation and community engagement.
  • Applicants must be familiar with the local language and willing to reside in the area.
