Job Summary

Reporting to the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Finance and Operations, the job holder will lead Digital and ICT strategy and coordinate efforts to ensure the security of the Universities cyber space.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and direct the implementation of Digital and ICT strategic goals, policies and standards that support the University’s core mission and vision.
• Lead the use of ICT in research, teaching i.e. learning/classroom technologies & administrative processes and partner with faculty, staff & students to support digital learning initiatives.
• Oversee the collaborative relationships across the University to create an integrated, secure and dependable ICT systems, business processes, and practices.
• Manage ICT and advice management on the impact of the ICT solutions so as to realize optimum benefits of the ICT systems and achieve best value out of the ITC investment.
• Oversee the University’s LAN/WAN and Wi-Fi infrastructure including instructional and research laboratories to ensure smooth learning and create research environment for the students and faculty.
• Liaise with DVC Transformative Teaching, Learning & Research to conduct ICT (R&D) research and development and provide the University with cost/benefit analysis and recommendations so that the University can benefit from emerging technologies and therefore offer world class ICT services to its customers and real value of its investment.
• Oversee the employment, training, utilization and evaluation of the University’s central ICT environment & staff to guarantee efficient service delivery to the University community.
• Develop and implement the University’s overall security and contingency plans so as to control risks exposure of the University’s information.
• Lead and develop the provision of the University’s core Business Intelligence (BI) and Analytics that support tactical and strategic decision making through integrated data warehousing of corporate data, availability of corporate data in corporate reporting tools and documentation of data & its meaning.

Job Specifications:

Academic Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Information Technology or related field.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related field.

Professional Qualifications / Membership to professional bodies/ Publication

• Relevant professional qualification.
• Member of a relevant professional body.

Work Experience Required

• Minimum of twelve (12) years overall experience and out of which at least four (4) years should be at managerial level.
