Job Description

CDL was founded in early 2003 by its current Managing Director Lucy Mmari.Within her 14 year tenure in a well established logistics company, She honed her skill in human resources management and thereafter started CDL.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management:

  • Oversee the financial operations of the organization, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
  • Develop and implement financial strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Prepare and present financial reports, budgets, and forecasts to senior management and stakeholders.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Lead the annual budgeting process, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis.
  • Develop financial models to support strategic planning and decision-making.

Accounting and Reporting:

  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards.
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Manage the external audit process and liaise with auditors.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
  • Delegate responsibilities and provide guidance to ensure efficient and effective team performance.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.

Risk Management:

  • Identify financial risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and laws.
  • Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard the organization’s assets.

Strategic Planning:

  • Collaborate with senior management to develop and execute the organization’s strategic plan.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support business growth and operational efficiency.
  • Participate in investment planning and analysis.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
  • CPA(K) certification and membership in the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya.
  • Over 5 years of experience in finance, with at least 3 years in a managerial position.
  • Strong knowledge of financial management, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
