Job Description

Kenya Commercial Bank Limited is registered as a non-operating holding company which started operations as a licensed banking institution with effect from January 1, 2016. The holding company oversees KCB Kenya – incorporated with effect from January 1, 2016 – and all KCB’s regional units in Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Ethiopia and South Sudan.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of the unit’s business plan including development of strategies, client segmentation and marketing plans.
  • Develop, launch and manage the entire Islamic Assets and Liability Products for all corporate, SME and Retail banking segments developed around Market needs, customer perceptions and bank’s requirements
  • Develop product and overall policy for Sahl banking and in consultation with the Shariah Advisory Council to ensure continued shariah compliance of products and services of Sahl banking.
  • Develop effective risk mitigation strategies whilst ensuring compliance to the Bank’s Policies and Operations Procedures taking into consideration Shari’ah principles
  • Manage all media placements of Sahl Banking products in consultation with with Shari’ah Advisory Council to ensure shariah principles are adhered to.
  • Train, coach and develop a high performing  Sahl Banking team able to offer customers a broad range of quality Sahl Banking products and services.
  • Assisting training department in conducting product training to all channels
  • Communicate the strategic initiatives for the Sahl banking as developed in conjunction with Retail, Markets, Regional and Executive Heads and other stakeholders within the  Group
  • Oversee the monitoring of the effectiveness and implementation of strategic initiatives to ensure delivery thereof and implement any corrective measures as and when required
  • Review balanced scorecard criteria and assign accountability in the team to measure performance of the business

Academic & Professional

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized institution.
  • Professional Qualification: Shariah Auditor and Advisor
  • Master’s degree will be an added advantage.
  • 10 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • 5 years’ experience in Islamic Banking.
  • 3 years’ experience in Banking Operations.
  • 2 years’ experience in Bank Lending.
