Job Description

AAA Growers is one of the leading exporters of premium & prepared vegetables from Kenya and the largest commercial grower and exporter of chillies from Kenya. We aim to provide quality products which redefine what innovative, healthy and delicious vegetables should be. AAA Roses (Forest Gate (EPZ) Ltd.) entered the floriculture industry in 2011 and in 2012 began exporting roses to the Netherlands, Great Britain, Germany, the Middle East and other markets. In a relatively short time AAA Roses built its strong name in the Kenyan flower industry mainly due to high quality products, modern facilities and commitment and dedication of our professional team.

Summary

As a Head of Section – Crop Protection you are responsible for the crop protection activities of one production unit (15 ha) at our expansion at Simba farm. This means ensuring all crop protection activities are executed seamlessly. We also expect you to deal with hiccups that may threaten your execution together with other heads of section within the farm. Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Oversee daily crop protection activities for responsible production unit; accountable for executing all the activities in time and good quality.
  • Ensure hiccups are dealt with pro-actively. In case there are issues affecting your crop protection activities you are supposed to find out the root cause of the issue and pro-actively deal with it.
  • Maintain budgets and optimize expenses, make sure we stay within the budgets that have been agreed on
  • Set policies and processes, ensure all processes are captured in policies and processes for all employees to access. Ensure we adjust procedures and policies are updated according to new developments.
  • Ensure employees work productively and develop professionally. Employees are, our biggest asset, you with your team are responsible that staff is engaged, and satisfaction is maintained.

Your profile

  • Diploma in Horticulture, Floriculture or Agriculture
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a farm of the same capacity
  • Excellent Leadership skills and management skills
  • Analytical mindset, excellent interpersonal and communication skills and team player facilitating cross-functional collaboration.
  • Good command of the English language, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient Computer skills in MS Office applications, particularly with Excel.
